There was a buzz of excitement in the air as schools geared up to kick off the new academic year in June 2024!
Across India, schools are reaching out to TTF for professional development courses to brush up on skills and get ready for the new school year.

TTF held 3 webinars this quarter.
Thinking is a Life Skill on April 8th focused on the significance of thinking as a fundamental life skill. From problem-solving to decision-making, our ability to think critically influences every aspect of our lives.
The next webinar held on 10th May dealt with the importance of Life Skills for children and youth with disabilities. Kavneet Khullar, Trustee & Principal of Akshar School, Sajinie Gnanatheeban, Principal & Manager of Baldwin Opportunity School and Timira Gupta, an Arts-Based Therapy Practitioner participated in an engaging panel discussion, moderated by Ratan Gopinath, a veteran TTF facilitator. The third webinar was held on June 18th and its focus was on the Teaching of Life Skills. Maya Menon, Founder Director TTF, S. Vijayalakshmi, senior TTF facilitator and Soorya Hariharan, TTF facilitator, were a part of the panel discussion. These 3 summer webinars were held in association with the Life Skills Collaborative (LSC).

TTF's Work with the Public School System

TTF organised an eight-day Summer Camp for children at the Zilla Parishad School, Pade, Dindori Taluk. Learning with fun was the prime objective of all the activities conducted during the camp.
Around 100 students from two Zilla Parishad schools participated in the camp.
This summer camp was part of the 3 year collaboration TTF has with Pernod Ricard, India. It also includes sustained training and support for 100 Govt. teachers from 15 schools in Dindori block in Nashik district. The aim is to embed teaching practices and consequently improve students' Literacy, Numeracy & Social Emotional Skills.

Safe & Sensitive Schools Programme
|
|
|
TTF's Safe and Sensitive Schools Programme plays a vital role in fostering a positive school climate where all students feel valued, respected and are able to reach their full potential.
Mother Divine Public School in New Delhi, Taurian World School in Ranchi and Kamala Niketan Montessori & High School in Trichy are collaborating with TTF to implement SASS programme in their schools.
Addressing the question of – how can schools be positive, gentle and safe in terms of policies, spaces and interactions is crucial for promoting whole school well-being and successful learning experiences for all students.

Sustained Teacher Development Programme (STDP)
|

|
Sishu Griha Montessori & High School in Bangalore, Kamakoti Vidyalaya in Trichy & Lodha World School, Mumbai have signed up for TTF's Sustained Teacher Development Programme. By focusing on such professional development programmes schools can ensure that educators are equipped with not just the knowledge, but also the skills and attitudes that are necessary for memorable teaching!

Capacity building of Teachers &
School Heads in Ahmedabad

TTF has signed an MOU with UNESCO to collaborate and build the capacity of teachers and school Heads in 300 ASPnet schools in Gujarat with a view to promote the UN SDGs – especially critical thinking, empathy and a sense of responsibility towards global challenges amongst their students. 65 teachers from Anand Niketan Schools, Shilaj campus, participated in a 2 day QCT programme, as a first in a series of workshops.

Quality Circle Time, Support & Refresher

|
Nearly 500 teachers took part in QCT, QCT Support and/or QCT refresher courses with TTF in the first quarter of the new academic year. These initiatives aimed to empower educators to foster students' self esteem, empathy, spirit of collaboration & mutual trust and the 5 essential skills of Thinking, Looking, Speaking, Listening & Concentrating.
'The stages of QCT and the importance of self esteem in children and teachers, was the most useful aspect of the workshop', says Dilon Pavithra from Yuvabharathi Nursery School.
While Puja Singh from PNC Cognitio says, 'My biggest takeaway from the Refresher course is that it is important to bond with the children emotionally, understand their needs and help them become empathetic individuals.'

Over 1000 teachers from diverse institutions across India have actively participated in TTF workshops from April to June, 2024. These workshops ranging from Happy Teachers Happy Schools to Learning Spectrum, Mindfulness, Fostering Creativity in Young Learners, Observations as Assessment and various other contemporary courses, are designed to enhance teachers' skills before the start of the academic year.
Archana R from Daffodils School remarks, 'We got to understand the types of learning disabilities and how to help those children.'
Says Ashika M B from KALS, "The most useful aspect of the workshop was to learn the importance of observing. This helps teachers to gain insights from real classroom dynamics and effective teaching practices, which they can then adapt and implement in their own teaching.
