Schools of the Future

a post pandemic vision for education

To celebrate TTF’s 20 years, the Schools of the Future Conference, was held online on 20th, 21st, 27th & 28th January, 2023. It witnessed a galaxy of eminent national and international educationists speaking on a variety of critical issues that will impact the future of schools.

There were keynotes addressing the themes of School Spaces, School Well-being, being trauma-informed; Future of Teaching-learning and School leadership. Besides students conducted interesting 15 mins sessions in the Student Lounges. They spoke on how THEY look at Schools of the Future; the 4 days had over 400 participants logged on and learning how to build upon their own professional experiences and bring transformation in their classrooms.

‘We need to teach children to take risks, do innovative & collaborative work rather than compete’, said John Tomsett, former secondary school headteacher from the UK. While Marva Rollins OBE affirmed, ’Ability to learn is not linked to class or caste. It is linked to opportunities and access to learning opportunities and belief in students.’

The celebrated Prof. Dylan Wiliam stated, ‘Learning is a change in long-term memory. Our focus must shift from ‘performance’ to ‘learning’.

The Schools of the Future conference was spread across 4 days with each day focusing on a vital ‘future’ track.

Conference Tracks:

Day 1 - 20th January - Future of School Spaces

Day 2 - 21st January - Future of Inclusion & Future of Teaching-Learning

  • Panel Discussion: Setting a New Paradigm for Learning moderated by Sandhya Shivaprasad (Head of Training & Content, TTF) with Guru Kasinathan (Co-Founder – IT for Change), Subir Shukla (Principal Coordinator, Group Ignus), Judi Freeman (Seevak Chair in History, Boston Latin School) and Arjun Bahadur (Lead, Life Skills Collaborative)
  • Keynote Address: Engagement & Responsiveness:The Keys to Effective Pedagogy with Prof. Dylan Wiliam, Emeritus Professor of Educational Assessment, UCL Institute of Education

Day 3 - 27th January - Future of Learning

  • Lounge Sessions: High School Students pitch their ideas for the Future of Schools
  • Panel Discussion: Leading Schools in India moderated by Maya Menon (Founder Director, TTF) with Vishnu Karthik (CEO of Xperiential Learning Systems, The Heritage Group of Schools), Willibrord George (CEO, St. Willibroad innovative schools) and George Skaria (Consultant Editor, Indian School of Business)

Day 4 - 28th January - Future of Well-being
