LSC India Glossary for Life Skills – Skill Tagging

The LSC India Glossary of Life Skills has enumerated, defined, and explained an aggregate of 52 Life Skills. We have assigned one or more tags to each of the life skills in the LSC Glossary as a suggested approach for educators and other diverse stakeholder groups to navigate these skills with ease and efficacy.

The need for tags in life skills

The LSC India Glossary of Life Skills has been curated after a thorough review of the life skills frameworks developed by national and international organisations, universities and government bodies. Most of these existing frameworks focused on placing life skills into broad and vague categories, ones that did not address the complexity and nuance of each of these skills. It was also observed that this categorisation system emphasised furthering the concerned organisation’s vision of life skills education.

The India Glossary of Life Skills adopts an alternate approach of ‘tagging’ each of the 52 life skills listed, rather than ‘categorising’ them. Many of these life skills can be tagged into more than one category. This allows room for these complex life skills to be understood and implemented better, to facilitate more efficient designing of curricula and learning opportunities.

On average, a teacher teaches at least forty children every year. Over a 25 year career, that is one thousand children. That means, when we enable and inspire ONE teacher, we touch over ONE THOUSAND lives. So contribute to ONE teacher’s training and touch the lives of a thousand children!
