Numeracy is the ability to use and comprehend numbers in our daily life. It involves the use of mathematics at a level necessary to function at work and in society in general, to understand and use mathematical information, calculate and manipulate mathematical information, interpret results and communicate mathematical information. It includes the knowledge and skills we require to effectively manage the mathematical demands of diverse situations.

Numeracy is one of the key skills we need to manage data and thrive in today’s world.

The person will be able to:

  • Interpret & reflect on basic numerical and graphical information, which is relevant to themselves, their work or community.
  • Share information about mathematical ideas such as quantity and numbers, patterns and relationships, data, etc.
  • Represent simple mathematical information including objects, pictures, symbols, numbers, tables, graphs, etc.
  • Deal with the mathematical skills that are needed for further study in mathematics or other subjects with mathematical assumptions.
